OVERAL MISSION 
 

The Headlines journalist assigned to the Headlines Desk holds a pivotal position, tasked with covering the day's primary news events predominantly through video content for Euronews TV and digital platforms. Working under the Headlines Editor, your role will involve producing breaking and current news stories, utilizing footage and reports sourced from Euronews' correspondent network, reporters, and news agencies. The headlines journalist should have the capability to ensure that newscasts are executed seamlessly and promptly, staying pertinent to current affairs, and meeting audience preferences and needs.  
 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Monitor and select relevant news stories for daily coverage, prioritizing based on newsworthiness and available resources.  
  • React quickly to breaking news, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of content.  
  • Produce engaging video packages using the best pictures and angles on new stories.  
  • Write and edit articles and scripts. 
  • Exercise quick editing judgment and fact-checking to ensure accuracy.  
  • Work closely with the news team and editors to coordinate coverage and respond to breaking news.  
  • Analyse current events and provide informed insights for news coverage.  
  • Utilize knowledge of digital platforms and sources of information to enhance news coverage.  
  • Generate on-screen captions for video content and provide a voiceover for your stories 
  • Collaborate with editorial management to ensure adherence to Euronews' editorial lines.   


REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  

Technical Skills  

  • Education level required: 4/5 years’ higher education – journalism qualification or equivalent 
  • Excellent command of English (min C2 near native); proficiency in additional languages is a plus. 
  • Strong background in journalism, with at least 2 years of experience covering breaking and hard news in English.  
  • Experience working in a fast-paced news environment, preferably for an international media.  
  • Excellent knowledge of European news and EU affairs.  
  • Good understanding of digital content production and consumption patterns.  
  • Proficiency in fact-checking and quick editing judgment.  
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Live broadcast and reporting experience.  
  • Familiarity with digital platforms and various sources of information.  
  • Ability to work well in a team and collaborate effectively with editorial management. 
  • Mastery of video editing required (Adobe Premiere, Dalet Pyramid)
  • In-depth understanding of the production process

News Journalists assigned to the Headlines desk should have a proven track record of handling big breaking stories effectively and efficiently. They should also be highly skilled in using production systems, with a particular emphasis on digital video.  
 

CONTRACT INFORMATION 

  • Location : Brussels. 
  • Contract type : Permanent under local law (CDI) 
  • Working hours : full-time 
  • Flexibility: Night shift (from Thursday to Sunday or Sunday to Wednesday, from 9:30 pm to 6:30 am)
  • Contract start date: ASAP
