Multi-skilled Operator (MSO)

Context

In 2027, France will elect its next president, and Euronews is gearing up to cover this major event on the ground for its European and international audience. Campaign rallies, candidate visits, debates, election nights: the Paris bureau will be at the heart of our coverage, and we are strengthening the team to make it happen.

Joining the Paris bureau now means experiencing this campaign from the inside: filming in the field, editing under pressure, running live shots from campaign headquarters and contributing to special programmes broadcast across Europe.

This versatile role covers the production, filming, editing and broadcast of content produced in Paris and in the field: live shots, two-ways, reports, interviews and programmes. Beyond the election, it is a long-term position within the bureau, covering French and European news.

The MSO reports to the Paris bureau and works closely with the Central Newsroom support team.

Main responsibilities

The MSO works alongside the journalists and correspondents of the Paris bureau, as well as with production coordinators in Brussels. As a versatile team member, they take on several roles:

Filming and camera operation (field and studio)

  • Filming reports, interviews, campaign rallies, candidate visits and vox pops, in Paris and across France.
  • Shooting in fast-paced news conditions: sound recording, light-kit lighting, framing in challenging environments (crowds, rally venues, campaign HQs).
  • Setting up and operating live shots and two-ways from the field (LiveU/TVU-type bonded cellular units, IP links, returns).
  • In-bureau productions: studio and remote interviews, presenter links, guest panels.

Editing and post-production

  • Editing reports, short news pieces and digital/social formats, often on very tight deadlines.
  • Integrating graphics, basic sound mixing and simple colour grading.
  • Preparing material for election nights and special programmes (candidate profiles, recaps, round-ups).
  • Transcoding, exporting and transferring media to Brussels and distribution platforms.

Technical operations and production

  • Technical preparation: setting up the studio or live position, checking and adjusting equipment, establishing contribution links, recording.
  • Operating equipment: cameras, lighting, players and recorders, vision mixer, audio console and audio equipment, production automation, cloud-based production system.
  • Using production techniques: chroma key, virtual studio, physical sets.
  • Receiving, processing and distributing external feeds and files (pools, agencies, debate and election night feeds).
  • Managing storage and archiving rushes.
  • Carrying out preventive and first-level maintenance of field and bureau equipment.
  • Providing technical support to journalists during live TV, particularly for election coverage

Required Skills and Qualifications
