Since 1993, Euronews has been the leading international news media in Europe, resulting in a unique European identity and multilingual model in 17 languages (12 language editions and five branded affiliates). 

Euronews will launch an editorial bureau in Astana, Kazakhstan which will produce a variety of current affairs content, including several shows focused on heritage, culture, business and regional personalities as well as news coverage. These programs, produced locally, are intended for a global audience and for a comprehensive view of Central Asia and Kazakhstan.  

Euronews Academy:   

Euronews Academy in Astana is born out of a partnership with institutions to deploy a regional hub of Euronews Academy to train the next generation of local talents and share with them Euronews’ 28 years of experience in delivering highly trusted news, creating original stories and developing innovative formats.

OVERALL MISSION  

As part of our new office, we are looking for an Academy Manager. 

Reporting: The Euronews Academy Manager reports to the Bureau Chief and will work in liaison with Euronews BD team in Lyon to design the training plan and local partners / universities 

 
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Academy Manager ‘s role will be to: 

Project management :

  • Leading design, implementation and day-to-day management of the regional e-learning platform 
    Coordinating commercial activities on the B2B level (sales of training to local organisation) and B2C (sales of online courses) 
  • Acting as the point of contact for questions from all regional partners and clients 
  • Coordinating relationships with local partner universities (Qatar U. Northwestern U): selection of students for shadowing and internship, enrollment of students on the e-learning platform, setup of in-person lectures, etc. 
  • Identifying and recruiting external trainers for the platform and for on-site courses  

Education : 

  • Leading design and suggest syllabus and curriculum for the Euronews Academy in Astana 
  • Giving in-person lectures 
  • Creating courses on the e-learning platform. 
  • Delivering B2B training (for media and institutions) in the region and as part of the global Euronews Academy roster. 
     

Outreach and visibility: 

  • Developing visibility strategy in the region 
  • Representing Euronews Academy at local and regional level 
  • Attending and present Euronews Academy at conferences and industry events 


REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
 

  • Higher education diploma (Bachelor, master’s preferred) 
  • Significant experience as journalist or as a journalism educator 
  • Knowledge of media and information literacy or curriculum development 
  • Work experience in the MENA region 
  • Professional mastery of English, fluent in Kazakh, proficient in Russian is a plus. 

 FURTHER INFORMATION 

  • Location: Astana, Kazakhstan  
  • Working hours: Full-time from Monday to Friday 
  • Contract start date: December 2024 (to be confirmed)
