Euronews is launching EU.XL, a new digital project reimagining European affairs coverage through audience-first storytelling — blending explainers, video, data, polls, newsletters, and AI-driven interaction.
OVERAL MISSION
Within the Euronews language teams, the Bilingual Journalists cover target stories on varied themes, driven by the news.
They have significant online experience and are equally able to work in TV and on digital platforms, in line with Euronews’ editorial values and producing packages that meet high quality standards. The Bilingual Journalists are fully responsible for the quality and accuracy of the news delivered.
They may also make occasional contributions to live coverage by his own language service, or as experts on other services, whether TV or digital platforms.
They are responsible for the complete production of articles and web content targeted for production, and for their publication across all digital-platform channels.
The Bilingual Journalists report to the Head of Language and, during shift, report to the Editor of the Day of the language service.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures the localization of all Euronews content into its own language, including translation, writing of titles, choice of keywords, hashtags, writing of additional local information, etc.
- Produce and publishes web content (video, text, photos, infographics, etc.) aligned with Euronews’ positioning and values
- Monitor the impact of published content using audience data
- Share his content with the other language services
- Drive engagement with users on social media
- Can go on air live (audio and video presence) during Lives.
- On-Air and Visibility: voice own pieces and appear on camera when needed.
- Mobile Reporting Skills: Experience in capturing both video and audio via mobile; capable of editing video on Adobe Premiere and DaVinci Resolve.
- High speed in breaking news situations × Accuracy in selecting reliable sources
- Ability to share articles, videos, and photos on social media in accordance with Euronews
- CMS Familiarity: Able to navigate and follow CMS updates without interruption.
- Image Editing & Copyright: Proficient in editing photos and respecting copyright rules.
- Social Media Engagement: Able to use personal professional accounts to request reports, interviews, and source verification across diverse viewpoints.
- Editorial Updates: Keeps updated with news developments and Euronews editorial needs; proposes original story ideas with creativity and initiative.
- Use of Trusted Sources & AI: Experienced in social media and credible sources; able to make independent decisions in sensitive situations; comfortable using AI responsibly to improve content accuracy.
- Teamwork and Professionalism: collaborate effectively, fosters team cohesion, and values inclusive participation.
- Flexibility: Adapts to fast-paced environment, including night and weekend shifts if required.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Skills
- Required education level: 4–5 years of higher education (Bachelor’s/Master’s degree) in journalism or equivalent.
- Required professional experience: minimum 2 years as a bilingual (English/Farsi) multimedia journalist within an international news media outlet (TV, digital, or news agency).
- Language skills: excellent professional command of Farsi. Fluent English (minimum C1 level). Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
- Mastery of news formats: news briefs, web articles, short videos, and live coverage.
- Strong general knowledge enabling coverage of a wide range of topics.
- Solid knowledge of European current affairs.
- Excellent understanding of Iran / Afghanistan issues and the Iranian-speaking diaspora.
- Excellent writing skills (journalistic structure and tone).
- Proven experience in a news media environment (TV, digital, or agency).
- Ability to verify Farsi-language sources.
- Strong news judgment and prioritization skills (angle, hierarchy, headlines).
- Fast, accurate writing skills.
- On-air confidence, particularly during live broadcasts.
- Strong digital mindset and ease with technology; autonomous use of CMS.
- Video editing skills, particularly with Adobe Premiere.
- Mobile journalism skills (shooting, editing, and publishing quickly and accurately).
