Euronews is launching EU.XL, a new digital project reimagining European affairs coverage through audience-first storytelling — blending explainers, video, data, polls, newsletters, and AI-driven interaction.

Euronews Health vertical 

Euronews Health is the digital destination for the latest in health news, science and policy.  Euronews Health is a new digital platform that covers the latest developments in healthcare for both citizens and industry players.  Euronews Health helps our audiences understand how the latest scientific breakthroughs, medical science, and EU health policy can impact their lives and businesses.  

Overall mission

The Vertical Journalist is responsible for the daily production of digital content on a wide range of health topics, to be published across Euronews’ digital platforms and social media channels. This role sits within the “Verticals” editorial team and strengthens the group’s editorial footprint on health topics, in line with the strategy and editorial line set by the newsroom. This role is assigned to the Health Vertical.

Main responsibilities

 Vertical journalists are responsible for the following: 

  • Pitch and develop original, innovative story ideas linked to current events in the health sector, while respecting the editorial line and showcasing the diversity of disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Gather, verify and process information from specialized, reputable sources (health agencies, industry experts, institutions, professional networks).
  • Produce articles, video reports, podcasts and rich digital content, including health experts interviews, trend analyses, in‑depth explainers on major or emerging events, thematic features, infographics and interactive maps.
  • Contribute to the design and development of new editorial formats, ensuring a constantly renewed range of angles and approaches.
  • Publish content to deadline, in close coordination with the Lead Editor and the editor‑in‑chief.
  • Leverage audience data and work hand in hand with product, sales and marketing teams to optimize the distribution of cultural content and maximize engagement among target audiences.
  • Ensure compliance with copyright rules and best practices in search optimization, with a strong command of publishing, analytics and digital enrichment tools.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Education level required: 4/5 years’ higher education – journalism qualification or equivalent 
  • 5 years of journalism experience in a digital environment, 2 years covering the thematic (health)
  • Excellent command of English (C2); knowledge of French and other languages spoken at Euronews is a plus 
  • Significant practice of social networks and digital news platforms 
  • Mastery of digital editorial practices and techniques
  • Experience in the design and development of editorial projects 
  • Writing languages on different web platforms and publication in different formats (text, video, images…) 
  • Knowledge of content management tools (software…) 
  • Knowledge of essential digital tools in digital journalism, such as news analytics 
  • Solid culture in the vertical thematic and general culture, constantly updated, allowing approaching varied subjects. 
  • Mastery of writing different products (news, dossiers…) 
  • Mastery of video design (infographics, imagery…)

Contract Information

  • Place of work: Brussels 
  • Contract type : permanent contract under Belgium law
  • Working hours: full time, Monday to Friday 
  • Contract start date: Q1 2026
