Social Media Journalist

 

Position Summary:

As a Social Media Journalist for an international news channel, you will play an important role in building a social presence for the organization, generating engagement and reporting news. You will be responsible for creating and curating compelling content for various social media platforms to reach a global audience. Your work will contribute to the channel's brand reputation, audience growth, and digital engagement.

 

Responsibilities:

Content Creation and Curation:

Create engaging multimedia content such as images, videos, infographics, and live broadcasts to enhance social media storytelling for Euronews’ social media accounts.

Write compelling headlines, captions, and teasers to capture attention and encourage audience interaction.

Curate and repurpose news content from various sources, ensuring proper attribution and adherence to copyright guidelines.

 

Social Media Strategy and Execution:

Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with the channel's objectives, target audience, and brand guidelines.

Schedule, publish, and promote news content across different social media channels using social media management tools.

Monitor social media analytics to track engagement, reach, and performance metrics, and adjust strategies accordingly.

Stay updated with social media trends, emerging platforms, and tools for news dissemination.

Identify new opportunities, strategies, and innovations to improve the channel's social media presence and engagement.

 

Audience Engagement and Community Management:

Monitor social media platforms for breaking news, emerging trends, and user-generated content.

Engage with the audience, respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a professional and timely manner.

Foster a sense of community by initiating and participating in discussions, polls, and live chats.

 

 Ethical Standards and Accuracy:

Adhere to journalistic principles, including accuracy, fairness, objectivity, and ethical conduct.

Ensure that the content complies with legal, copyright, and privacy regulations.

Exercise critical thinking and discernment while sharing news to prevent the spread of misinformation or disinformation.

 

 Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Mass Communication, or a related field.

Proven experience as a journalist or social media manager in a news organization.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages are a plus).

Strong knowledge of social media platforms, tools, and best practices.

Proficient in content creation and editing software, graphic design, and multimedia production.

Understanding of global news, current affairs, and geopolitical events.

Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and multitask effectively.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.

Ethical and responsible approach to news reporting and content dissemination.
