Context:

The DOP Cameraman (Director of Photography Cameraman) plays a key role in shaping the visual identity and quality of Euronews productions for all the shows in Doha and regional content.

Reporting to the Bureau Chief, the DOP Cameraman is responsible for designing, lighting, and capturing compelling visual narratives across studio and field environments. Working closely with editorial and technical teams, they ensure that every frame meets Euronews’ editorial values, aesthetic standards, and operational requirements.

This position is located in Doha Euronews Bureau, supporting both live and recorded productions.


Main responsibilities:

Visual Direction & Filming

  • Design and execute the visual style and lighting of live and recorded productions in alignment with the Editorial Management’s team vision.
  • Operate and supervise the use of cameras (studio, Steadicam, handheld) to ensure consistent image quality and artistic coherence.
  • Ensure optimal framing, focus, exposure, and camera movements during live broadcasts and field shoots.
  • Collaborate with the Editorial and production teams to translate editorial concepts into strong visual storytelling.

Technical & Lighting Management

  • Plan, set up, and adjust lighting schemes in studio and on location to achieve the desired mood and tone.
  • Oversee camera setup, configuration, and calibration, ensuring seamless technical performance during shoots.
  • Supervise or assist in the maintenance of filming, photographic and lighting equipment, identifying and resolving technical issues proactively.

Creative Collaboration & Team Coordination

  • Work closely with producers, journalists, and technical staff to ensure visual consistency across all outputs.
  • Provide creative and technical input during pre-production and rehearsals.
  • Support and guide interns when necessary, promoting best practices and visual innovation.

Quality Control & Innovation

  • Maintain the highest standards of broadcast image quality and visual composition.
  • Keep abreast of new camera technologies and production techniques to continuously improve the bureau’s visual performance.
  • Propose creative solutions to enhance storytelling, particularly during live or dynamic filming conditions.


Prerequisites:

Training & Experience

  • Degree or advanced training in Audiovisual Production, Cinematography, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in broadcast or film production, including live news or media environments.
  • English professional practice: Arabic is an asset.

Technical Skills

  • Mastery of Steadicam systems, handheld camera and advanced camera techniques
  • Extensive knowledge of camera equipments and maintenance
  • Expertise in lighting design, exposure control, and color management.
  • Good knowledge of digital news production tools (such as Dalet, Avid) and broadcast workflows.
  • Strong understanding of live production constraints and the ability to adapt quickly.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent creative sense and visual composition skills.
  • Strong communication, listening, and teamwork abilities.
  • Reactive, organized, and able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Problem-solving mindset and proactive approach to technical challenges.


Contract information:

  • Location: Doha, with permanent contact with editorial offices and the headquarters of Euronews
  • Contract: Fixed-term until end of December 2026
  • Starting date : asap
  • Schedule: Full-time
