Since 1993, Euronews has been the leading international news media in Europe, resulting in a unique European identity and multilingual model in 17 languages (12 language editions and five branded affiliates).
Euronews will launch an editorial bureau in Astana, Kazakhstan which will produce a variety of current affairs content, including several shows focused on heritage, culture, business and regional personalities as well as news coverage. These programs, produced locally, are intended for a global audience and for a comprehensive view of Central Asia and of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

OVERALL MISSION
As part of our new office, we are looking for experienced Digital Editors.
Digital Editors oversee the daily production and broadcasting of news items on digital platforms. They lead and supervise reporters and the Correspondent to whom they assign stories to be covered and which they approve before publication.
They are responsible for the quality and accuracy of news stories or multimedia content to be produced and published on all channels of the digital platform.
In a digital-first approach, the Digital Editors are responsible for Front Page Editing, SEO optimization and possible live blogs, in collaboration with the Astana team.
The Digital Editors report to the Bureau Chief and his/her deputy and functionally to Euronews Central Newsroom.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help create a content strategy for the digital platforms
- Actively participate in setting Euronews Kazakhstan’s editorial identity and voice
- Monitor the the Front-Page Editing of Euronews Kazak’s website
- Drive all aspects of Euronews Kazakhstan’s digital output – editorial and commercial – across digital platforms
- Develop and maintain a content calendar
- Create and edit video stories optimised for digital platforms
- Write original stories and news articles about Kazakhstan and Central Asia (news and features)
- Develop a roster of text & video contributors, photographers, and columnists
- Commission and manage regular contributions, including videos series, feature articles and photo galleries
- Coordinate with Euronews’ digital news reporters and Almaty correspondent to create original content
- Bring fresh innovative storytelling ideas
- Fine tune workflows and processes with focus on the audiences
- Analyse, and interpret and report digital analytics
- Guarantee the coherence of the contents about the values and the positioning of Euronews on all platforms.
- Ensure push notifications are sent out quickly, accurately, and precisely.
- Coordinate breaking news situations based on available resources, processes, and tools (live blog, live on air, push notification.)
- Ensure performance of stories via audience and page view impact
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Skills
- Education level required: 4/5 years’ higher education – journalism qualification or equivalent
- Language skills: Excellent command and professional practice of English and Kazakh (C2 level). Proficiency in Russian and any additional “Euronews” languages is a plus.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in news media (audio-visual and online).
- Experience in fast and accurate writing in English (news, features…) on different web platforms and publishing in different formats (text, video, images...)
- Broad general knowledge and great interest for the CIS region
- Mastery of digital news writing practices and techniques (composition and tone)
- Experience of social networks and digital news platforms
- Experience in designing and developing editorial projects
- Knowledge of content management tools (software...) and essential digital tools in digital journalism, such as News Analytics
