Euronews is launching EU.XL, a new digital project reimagining European affairs coverage through audience-first storytelling — blending explainers, video, data, polls, newsletters, and AI-driven interaction.
Each week, the team explores one major EU topic — from climate and migration to regulation, democracy, or technology — transforming complex issues into accessible, engaging digital stories that help audiences understand how Europe works and why it matters.
We’re seeking a Digital Journalist with a strong grasp of EU affairs, advanced digital storytelling skills, and curiosity for editorial innovation to join our Brussels-based team.
Your Role
As part of the EU.XL editorial team, you will:
• Pitch and produce original stories on EU institutions, policies, and decisions that bring clarity and relevance to European audiences.
• Translate technical or legislative topics into compelling stories that connect with broad, non-specialist audiences.
• Conduct rigorous research and interviews to provide context and analysis.
• Produce multimedia content using text, visuals, data, and vertical video formats optimized for digital and social platforms.
• Work with tools such as Flourish, Adobe Premiere, and CMS platforms to deliver visual and video content.
• Contribute creative ideas for new storytelling formats and audience engagement strategies, including Euro-polls and newsletters.
• Collaborate with Euronews’ Product and Editorial Innovation teams to curate and feed content for the AI-powered Answer Machine.
• Adapt stories for multiple platforms, applying SEO and social optimization best practices.
• Engage audiences by helping design and interpret weekly Euro-polls, integrating audience insights into storytelling.
• Support the creation of the weekly newsletter, providing background, context, and visual elements.
• Use analytics and audience data to improve storytelling and engagement.
What You Bring
• Expertise in EU affairs: Strong understanding of EU institutions, policymaking, and the European agenda.
• Digital and video storytelling skills: Ability to produce and present high-quality video content tailored to digital audiences.
• Editorial excellence: Strong writing, research, and analytical abilities, capable of simplifying complex policy discussions.
• Digital fluency: Proficiency with CMS, data visualization, and video editing tools.
• Collaborative spirit: Team-oriented, comfortable working with design, product, and AI specialists.
• Professional experience: Proven background in digital journalism, ideally covering European or international affairs.
• Language: Near-native English required; other European languages are an asset.
