Job Summary
This position is dedicated to the production and broadcasting of live, on-set, and post-production programs. The Multi-Skilled Operator is attached to the Central Newsroom support in Brussels.
Key Responsibilities
The Multi-Skilled Operator (MSO) works in coordination with journalists and production managers in Brussels or within different assignment offices.
They are required to take on multiple roles through their versatility, including:
- Technical prepation: setting up the set, checking and adjusting equipment, media presence, establishing contribution links, recordings;
- Various recordings: remote interviews, on-set interviews, recordings of news launches, programme images, ect...
- Equipment operation: cameras, lights, players and recorders, video mixer, audio console and equipment, production automation, cloud-based production system;
- Operation of production techniques: Chromakey, Virtual Studio, live set, ect...
- They will carry out a variety of tasks, such as:
- Operating systems for receiving, processing and making available external signals or files;
- Making and checking recordings;
- Managing media storage and transfer;
- Various video laboratory tasks (file transcoding);
- Managing preventive and first-level maintenance;
- Technical support for live TV.
- They provide training for the teams on the tools used for the job and provides a mentoring approach to new collaborators and trainees.
Required profile
Technical Skills
- Experience: minimum 2 years in the same position.
- Experience in TV live shows.
- Experience in using production control room equipment and its studio.
- Good understanding of multi-camera television techniques and studio lighting techniques.
- Understanding of the working environment of a newsroom: organization and equipment (NRCS).
- General knowledge of audiovisual professions.
- Knowledge of the world of information and current affairs.
- Linguistic knowledge : excellent mastery of written and spoken French (C2 level) and very good level of written and spoken English (B2 level).
