Overall mission:

The News Journalist produces by editing and scripting the assigned stories at the highest editorial and production standards with the full respect of Euronews editorial values, principles and guidelines as well as operational processes.

They are responsible for the complete production of articles and web content targeted for production, and for their publication across all digital-platform channels.

With an optimal command of broadcast level of English, the journalist follows, identifies, researches, devises the assigned subjects and/or stories, then selecting footage, gathering elements (video, photos, graphics, phone calls, quotes etc., …), editing and writing the stories for the digital platforms and /or television, as directed by the senior editors.

Pro-active and ambitious, constantly explores and monitors the bureau’s area of content, identifying and proposing competitive stories, angles, elements of coverage, proposing a variety of content to the senior editor.

Identifies stories and proposes coverage, prepares stories, angles of coverage, searches for documentation, checks footage rights, edits packages.

Under the direction of the bureau management, researches, identifies, and books guests for stories, telephone or on-camera interviews, quotes, or digital interaction.

Can be assigned to conducts interviews, live and as-live broadcasts, reporting from mobile devices, live blog on digital.

Deep knowledge of digital storytelling and production as well as real time digital performance and audience analysis (Chartbeat, Adobe Analytics etc).

Optimal knowledge of legal and industry compliance of all published/ broadcast content, respect of video copyrights, industry standards, privacy.

Active on social media both for information gathering and communication purposes.

Willing to travel to where events are taking place and be capable of covering their development on the ground.

The News Journalist reports to the Senior Editor during the shift and to the Head of Service as team structure.

Main responsibilities:

• Ensures the localisation of all Euronews content into its own language, including translation, writing of titles, choice of keywords, hashtags, writing of additional local information, etc.
• Produce and publishes web content (video, text, photos, infographics, etc.) aligned with Euronews’ positioning and values
• Monitor the impact of published content using audience data
• Share his content with the other language services
• Drive engagement with users on social media
• Can go on air live (audio and video presence) during Lives.

 
Your profile:

Technical skills

• Education level required: 4/5 years’ higher education – journalism qualification or equivalent
• Professional experience required: 1 to 2 years as multimedia journalist in a news media outlet
• Language skills: excellent command and professional practice of the language of the country where the position is located (level C2). Fluent English (level C1 minimum). Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
• Extensive general knowledge enabling him to cover diverse stories
• Proficient writer of news products (structure and tone)
• Fast, precise writer
• On-air presence, especially during live coverage
• Strong digital culture and fluent user of technology
• Mastery of video editing, especially on Adobe Premiere.
