Context:

We are seeking a highly organized and technically skilled individual to join our team as a Newsroom Technical Coordinator.

This role is critical to the smooth operation of our newsroom, ensuring that all technical aspects of news production run seamlessly during scheduled shifts. 
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of newsroom technology, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Main responsibilities:

Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
  • Provide real-time technical support to journalists, producers and on-air talent for content production, and during live broadcasts arranged in our office in Brussels 
  • Identify and resolve technical issues with newsroom systems, equipment, and software promptly to avoid disruptions.
System Management and Maintenance:
  • Monitor and maintain newsroom cloud based workflows 
  • Coordinate scheduled maintenance and software updates, with the vendor and the engineering teams to ensure system reliability.   
Coordination and Communication:
  • Act as the central point of contact between the newsroom and technical teams. 
  • Communicate system status updates, changes, and potential impacts to all stakeholders.   
Shift Management:
  • Work in shifts to provide 17/7 (6am to 11pm, 7 days a week) coverage for the newsroom’s technical needs, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.   
  • Document and hand over unresolved issues or tasks to the next shift to ensure continuity.   
Training and Support:
  • Train newsroom staff on proper use of technical software and equipment 
  • Develop user guides or quick-reference materials for common technical procedures.   
Emergency Preparedness:
  • Collaborate in the development of contingency plans for technical failures during critical newsroom operations. 
  • Participate in regular drills to ensure readiness for emergencies.
Your profile:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Broadcast Technology, Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 
  • Strong technical aptitude with knowledge of newsroom systems, video editing software, broadcast equipment, and IT infrastructure.   
  • Experience with Newsroom Computer Systems (NRCS) like Dalet, Avid, Octopus, or similar newsroom management tools is a plus.   
  • Proficiency in English (C1/C2), with French being an asset.
  • Ability to prioritize and remain calm under pressure in a live news environment.   
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental collaboration.   
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends, and holidays, for the purpose of the shifts 
  • Previous experience in a newsroom or broadcast environment is highly desirable.

  • Location: Brussels
  • Starting date: as soon as possible
  • Type of contract: Permanent contract
  • Working Hours: You will work on a rotating shift system alongside two other colleagues. The schedule consists of three shifts covering the period from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM, including weekend shifts.
